About Us - History

AGS Hanzik was raised in Sharifabad with an aim of providing quality education to local students with the minimum affordable tution fee. It was sanctioned under Operation Sadhbhawana (Army Development Group) by the Corps HQ. The foundation of the school was laid on 01 Apr 2000 with a humble strength of 20 students under canvas tents. The building of the school was completed in two months by a team of 107 Engr Regt.

The first management committee of the school was formed with Brig OPS Chauhan, VSM as the patron who appointed Miss Shahida Khan as the principal of the School. The school celebrated Independence day on 15 Aug 2000 with Dy GOC, Brig OPS Chauhan, VSM as the chief guest. However the school was formally inaugurated on 1^st Sept 2000 in the gracious presence of Lt. Gen J R Mukherjee, PVSM, AVSM, VSM. With the celebration of the Annual Day on 5 Jun 2001, three computers alongwith a printer & UPS were installed in the computer lab which was inaugurated by the first patron.

The highlights of the school was during the 55^th Independence day celebrations where Maj Gen Dalvir Singh, VrC, VSM, GOC (K) Force graced the occasion. The school celebrated its first sports day on 28^th sept 2001 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The JK board recognized the efforts of AGS Hanzik and awarded its affiliation on 23^rd Nov 2001 where Col K S Rathode KC, CO 105 Inf Bn(TA) & Lt Col Anuj Thapliyal played major role.
